Shannon Kelley
Head Volleyball Coach
Reid State Community College
Shannon Kelley, a native of Excel, Alabama, currently serves as the Head Volleyball Coach at Reid State Community College. Born in Monroeville, Coach Kelley brings a lifelong passion for athletics, mentorship, and leadership to the Lions volleyball program.
With a background in both athletics and technology, Coach Kelley offers a unique approach to coaching — one that balances strategy, discipline, and team unity with a modern and analytical perspective on the game. Before joining Reid State’s coaching staff, he worked as an IT Network Analyst, gaining problem-solving and communication skills that now enhance his leadership on the court.
Kelley is a former multi-sport athlete, earning All-County honors in both football and baseball at Excel High School. He later attended Jefferson Davis Community College, where he earned an Associate of Science degree in Computer Science.
His coaching journey began in local community leagues and continued as a YMCA volleyball coach and high school volleyball consultant, where he developed a reputation for building fundamentals, inspiring confidence, and creating cohesive team cultures. Now, as the head coach at Reid State, Kelley is focused on growing a competitive program that emphasizes hard work, accountability, and academic achievement.

Coach Kelley lives by the belief that effort and heart matter just as much as talent. He’s proud to lead the Reid State Lions volleyball program and is committed to helping student-athletes grow into strong competitors and even stronger individuals.
