EVERGREEN — Scooby Doo, Fred Flintstone and Waldo were just a few of the characters to arrive on scene for Reid State Technical College's first Athletes and Treats community event at Evergreen Municipal Park on Tuesday, Oct. 29.
The event welcomed the community to watch a costume "backward baseball" game between the Reid State Lions' baseball and softball players prior to the players meeting and greeting young community members who attended the game with their families. Attendees enjoyed candy, popcorn, and an inning of backward baseball.
"Having the community support Reid State in so many different ways is such a benefit, so we're always excited about opportunities to engage and host activities," said Brac Brady, Athletic Director for Reid State.
"Friday is the season opener for our basketball season, so this was a great way to finish up our pre-season baseball and softball programs prior to focusing on basketball."
The Reid State Lions' Men's Basketball team plays Bishop State in its season opener at the Evergreen Municipal Park on Friday, Nov. 1. Tip-off is 7 p.m. General admission is $6 for adults, $3 for children ages 6 and up, and free for Reid State students, faculty and staff.
