Reid State Women's Basketball Set to Make History in Inaugural Game Against Chipola College

Marianna, FL – November 18, 2024 – The Reid State Women's Basketball Team is preparing for a monumental moment in school history as they take the court for the first-ever game in the program's existence. The Lions will face off against the seasoned Chipola College Indians on Monday, November 18, at 4:30 PM in Marianna, Florida.

This game marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Reid State Athletics, as the Lions make their debut on the national collegiate basketball scene. Although they are facing a tough opponent in Chipola, Coach Genniefer Meeks is confident that this historic game will set the stage for the growth of the program. "This is a great honor to be a part of this historical moment in Reid State Athletics history," said Coach Meeks. "It will be something this team will always be able to look back on and be proud of – they were the foundation of this program."

The Lions, who have worked tirelessly in the lead-up to the season, will look to build their identity, develop team chemistry, and lay the foundation for what they hope will be a competitive and successful program in the years to come. The matchup against Chipola College, a respected program with a history of success, will be a tough challenge, but one that will provide valuable experience for the young Lions team.

While Reid State will look to compete in their inaugural game, they will soon return home for their first-ever home game on Saturday, November 23, when they host Hinds Community College at the Evergreen City Gym in Evergreen, Alabama. Tip-off for the game is set for 3:30 PM.
